Happy Valentine's Day

I wanted to start Valentine's Day off right, so I got up early and made the kids a special valentine pancake breakfast.

They love pancakes so I knew it would be a big hit.  I wanted to make most of their food heart shaped for the day so I made a heart sandwich, heart strawberries, and chocolate covered strawberry yogurt for Kelly's lunch.  For dinner Kelly had heart quesadillas, and Austin had heart pizza.

They loved their valentine's from Mommy and Daddy.

Kelly loved her big princess coloring pages and her new belts, and Grave Digger was a big hit with Austin.

Chippey the elf even came by and dropped off valentines for them.

Thanks to Grandma they had the perfect shirts for the day. I even gave Kelly a special valentine hair do. ;)

This year Kelly had school. We walked her in so we could help her with all the goodies we got for her class.  This was the first time she got to make valentines for her friends, she was so excited.  Austin and I went home and did what he loves to do.

I could not wait to get Kelly from school and hear all about her day and the special things she did.  It sounded like she had a blast!

As soon as we got home she had to color one of her new princess coloring pages.

We spent the rest of the day playing and watching valentine shows.  I got tons of hugs and kisses from them because they said it was a day of love. :)  We had a great day and I loved teaching them different ways to show someone you love them.  Daddy got home late because of school, but we had our family dinner for love earlier in the week.

XOXO

Kelly's new obsession

Kelly got an early Valentine's Day gift from Grandma and Grandpa this week, Sofia The First.

Kelly has loved her since her movie came out on Disney Junior back in November.  As soon as she comes home from school on Fridays the first thing she does is watch the new Sofia episode that I recorded for her earlier that day.  She has already said that all she wants for her birthday is Sofia stuff and that she wants to be her for Halloween.  They are just now starting to put out items and they can be hard to find so I am so happy Grandma found her the Sofia doll, she goes every where with us!

Sofia even comes with us to pick Kelly up from school.  She loves her so much.

A trip to the dentist

Friday both kids had a dentist appointment.  Kelly was very excited to get out of school early for the first time.  Daddy was even able to get off work early and go with us, so before the dentist we took the kids out to eat at Chili's for lunch.

Austin loves the pizza and Kelly always get a quesadilla.  After lunch we made sure to brush really well.

Our dentist, Dr. Mike, is the best!  Kelly loves him and could not wait for her appointment.  His waiting room is very entertaining.  There is always a movie playing on the TVs and there are 3 video games set up as well.

Austin has been to the dentist before, but this was his first cleaning.  He is not always a big fan of getting his teeth brushed so I was curious to see how he would do.  Kelly loves to be a big girl and go back all by herself, but Jacob and I were very shocked when Austin followed in her footsteps and went back alone too! He is getting to be such a big boy.  I was so proud of him!  After they were all done the hygienist came out to get us and we found the kids loading up their little bags with goodies.  They both did very well and their teeth looked great! Since it was Austin's first cleaning appointment, they gave him a t-shirt.

We love Dr. Mike and if you are looking for a great dentist for your kids you should check him out!

In loving memory of Lindsey Cannon

Last night I got the news that one of my childhood friends and fellow dance company member, Lindsey, had past away.  It felt like someone had punched me in my chest.  Most of you know that almost all of my childhood was revolved around dance.  No one can understand the bond that the dance company members have.  Dancers become sisters and brothers, teachers become our inspiration, and the other moms adopt us all as their children, we all become one big family.   We grew up together and spent almost all of our time together even when we were not dancing.  Though years have gone by and we may only communicate thru facebook, the bond will never fade.  Last night, as we all got on facebook and reminisced, was proof of that.  Even though the years have past we are still here for each other just like we were back then.

I am so happy that Lindsey was a part of my life. She had a great personality, could always make you smile, and was such a caring person.  So many of my childhood memories involve her; dance classes, summer dance camp, dance competitions, recitals, cruise ship performances, trips to Disney, sleepovers, pool parties...the list goes on and on.

RIP my sweet friend.  I know that you are up in heaven dancing and that you are now pain free.

We have a dancing guardian angel watching over all of us now.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Yesterday Grandma and Grandpa came over, so the kids wanted to throw Grandma a birthday party since her birthday is Thursday and they won't get to see her that day.  Kelly picked out Valentine cupcake mix for the cake. Both Kelly and Austin love to cook so they took turns helping me make them.

I thought I would be a little creative and make some of the cupcakes look like hearts.

Another thing the kids are great at is being my taste testers, and by their faces I think they turned out great!

For Grandma's gift I wanted to try something that I had seen on Pinterest. The kids love to make crafts so this was right up their alley and I knew it would be something that Grandma would cherish forever.  We took candles and put their art work on them.  All you need is regular paper, tissue paper, tape, sharpies or markers, a candle, wax paper, and a heat gun(I used my hair dryer). Here is the link: http://agirlinparadise.blogspot.com/2011/01/transferring-ink-to-candles.html#.UQ6ENvKfaAo
I love how they turned out.  I am going to have to do some for our house too and do some with their photos on them.

For the cards we took the bottom of celery and made flowers.  They had a blast doing this and they turned out so cute!

You can't have a party without decorations, so I had the kids make a sign while we waited for them to get here.  Kelly was very proud that she wrote hers all by herself.  Austin had a great time coloring and had to help me write his part.  We even put up some streamers.

Grandma was very surprised when she walked in and LOVED her gift!

The cupcakes were a big hit too!

And they even had to play a party game ;)

Happy Birthday Grandma!  Hope we made you feel as special as you are to us!  We are all very blessed to have you in our lives.  We love you bunches and bunches!
